Chip

Chip

Taken in Ouray, CO near Box Canyon Falls. My wife and I did a road trip in the American Southwest and this chipmunk is one of many species of wildlife we saw.

Mountain Flower

I have no idea what kind of flowering plant this is but the purple struck me as incredibly beautiful and unique in a very green, brown, and gray landscape.

This was taken while hiking the trail to visit Box Canyon Falls in Ouray, CO. It's such a wounderful little town dubbed Little Switzerland for how several mountains surround it. It feels like they hug the town and, with the style of buildings that make up the main street, make it feel as if you are in the Alps.

First “Decent” Waterfall

First "Decent" Waterfall

This is one of my first attempts at taking pictures of waterfalls. I didn't have a tripod with me to hold the camera steady so I had to take several shots at various shutter speeds to get the right amount of light, focus, and stabilization.

After editing it a bit in GIMP, I think it came out ok. Next time I find a raging waterfall - and it was raging (with all the record snowfall Colorado got this year) - I'll be sure to use a tripod if I can.

Desert Flower

I'm on vacation in the American Southwest and while hiking in Arches National Park in Moab, UT, I came across this desert flower. I can't remember if it was a cactus or some other flowering plant that somehow survives the arid conditions of the region.

A River Runs Through It

A River Runs Through It

This is a picture I took while hiking at High Point State Park. I can't say I'm a big fan of this photo but I'm testing out some uploading tools that will keep my Flickr, Facebook, and other photo sites in sync with one another.

I don't know why I can't think of good titles for my pictures... I guess the weirdest things pop into my head and stick.
