Test Google Video

Of all the videos that are out there in the world, this actually seemed the most benign. Even though its a touchy subject, this video doesn’t actually have any specific person being harmed. There is no graphic violence, nudity, foul language. This is, after all, a Google Video.

Got It Working

It’s Not Easy

I’ve been trying really hard to get video playing on my blog and I can’t seem to get it right. I think the beauty on WordPress 2.0 is that it is (among other things) very flexible and allows a powerful coder/web designer to create a very rich and entertaining blog. But for the novice like me, its not so rewarding.

I think I have to activate a plug-in to get video to work. Not a big deal except the embedding process for the plug-ins appears to be different than the process for Blogger. Perhaps Blogger is better that way. Now, i don’t think I’m going to switch back to Blogger or anything, but I am going to look for an easier way to get Google Video and YouTube files on the site.

Its late now so I’m going to give up for now and try again tomorrow night.

So It’s Coming Along

Some of the familiar items are back and, still, others aren’t back yet.

The map of New York City is back. So are my del.icio.us links and the java script that takes what I’m listening to on iTunes and lists on the sidebar. I think my Google Analytics script is working but I’ll know in a day or so.

Now, I just have to add the FeedBlitz submit box and the URL icon.

Update:  YouTube code doesn’t seem to work for some reason but I’m sure it could be the cutting and pasting I’m doing from my old blog.

I Told You So!

I told you so! I mentioned here that I was going to reinvent this blog and, well, I did it! I have to say I had a tremendous help from my friend who let me build of the courage to, esentially, completely delete the ‘old’ blog and install WordPress 2.0 on my domian. Thankfully, my host provider offers free WordPress 2.0 installs and made the entire setup so easy; I can’t imgiane doing it any other way.

But the real reason it was so easy was WordPress’s import feature. While it missed some of my embedded objects like my YouTube video and some of my Java script, everything was imported. I’m still checking things (I backed up my site before I did anything) so the final word isn’t out yet but I’m confident things will be ok.

I haven’t edited the themes yet (or selected a permanent one) so expect the site to change a little bit before the conversion is all done. But until then, enjoy the fresh, new, crisp, So It’s Come to This:
