Skype Me

I’ve used Skype for a few years now. Its been more of a work tool than anything. I don’t use it to talk to friends. But I’ve created a new Skype login for people to chat with me and linked to it near the Google Map and Trillian.

Now Accepting Donations

Ok… I’m bored. But you know that already because I told you so in the last post. So I started to randomly search blogs and I came across one that I thought was really interesting. This site (I’m not going to link to it), was totally devoted to this one guy taking donations from the general internet public.

This kind of idea - soliciting visitors of one’s site for donations with no reason - isn’t new. Hell, people have been selling useless stuff on the internet for years. Forget about the million dollar web page… What about eBay?

So in the spirit of collecting money for no reason other than to say you can, I’m now accepting donations to the So Its Come to This: Fund. The donations go to a worthy cause - i.e. me. And your small - but generous contribution of one, single, lonely, dollar with go towards whatever I feel like.

Seriously, though. I’m setting this up to see if I can actually get a dollar from someone and, if I can, see how much I can collect. But I will do this:

If I get a substantial amount of money - like say anything more than $25 - I’ll donate it to a charity and show proof of that donation. This is more like an experiment than some cheap ploy to get a buck or two. If I was that desperate for cash, I wouldn’t be hosting this website.

Anyway…

Click on this link to donate a dollar to me. I’ll keep a ‘Make a Donation’ button below the Google Map just in case.

Now, if you can spare a dollar, please…

Bored

I need something new to talk about.

Any suggestions?

More Code Changes

Whether you know it or not, I’ve been busy with the site. Nearly all the additions or changes are cosmetic code in nature but do have some benefit to you - my loyal fan.

The first change I made worth mentioning was for del.icio.us. At the end of every post (near the comments section), I added a ‘Post to del.icio.us’ link. When you click on the link, it will allow you to add the article or story you just read to your Del.icio.us bookmarks. You’ll be able to add your the tags of your choice to the link just like you could any other site.

The second change that’s interesting to note is the ‘My Recent Playlist’ to the side bar. I signed up for Last.fm and installed their plug-in for iTunes. It creates an RSS feed of the songs I listen along with a ranking of how many times I listen to that track or artist. My friend, Frank, helped me turn the RSS feed into Java script with this site: Feed to JavaScript which allowed me to add my most recently listened to tracks.

I’ve also added JavaScript that adds Newsvine content for New York. You can’t see it yet because I’m waiting to get an ok from them to list their content on my site; I don’t want to get a cease and desist order from some lawyer claiming Newsvine has a copyright the news. If I get an ok, I’ll un-comment it from my code.

Until I get that up, though, enjoy seeing what I listen to on the site.

Del.icio.us

Ok.. Its a slow day.. So I’m taking a break from almost nothing and trying to figure out how to add del.icio.us links or a post button on the bottom of all my blog posts.

I’m trying some Greasmonkey scripts so see if i can get this to work.

Update: Its not doing what I want so I’ll try again.

Update 2: What I was trying wasn’t what I wanted to do so I stopped trying what wasn’t working.
